As an Apple Pencil user, losing it can be an overwhelming experience, especially if it’s an expensive investment. But before you panic, here are some steps to follow when trying to locate your lost Apple Pencil:

1. Use your iPad/iPhone Bluetooth:

The Apple Pencil connects to your device via Bluetooth, and by using your device’s Bluetooth you can track the last location the Apple Pencil was connected to it. Go to Settings>Bluetooth, and check if the Apple Pencil is connected to any of your devices.

2. Use the Find My app:

With iOS R13 and later updates, Apple has introduced the Find My app, which allows you to track your Apple Pencil’s location. Open the app, and tap on the Devices tab. From there, you can track your device’s location, or see the last place it was connected to your device.

3. Check between cushions:

If you use your Apple Pencil while sitting on the couch or in bed, it’s possible it slipped down the sides of your furniture or got lost between cushions. Check under the cushions, where the frame meets the cushions and behind the couch cushions to see if you can locate it.

4. Retrace your steps:

Think back to where you last had your Apple Pencil and retrace your steps. If you’re lucky, you may find it in one of the rooms you visited.

5. Ask family/friends:

If you’re at home or at the office, ask your family or colleagues if they have seen your Apple Pencil. It’s possible someone may have picked it up, assuming it belonged to them.

6. Use a Tile tracker:

If you can’t locate your Apple Pencil using the above methods, you can use a Tile tracker. The Tile is an accessory that you can attach to your Apple Pencil, which allows you to locate it using your smartphone. If it’s close enough, you can use the Tile app to play a sound, ensuring you can locate it quickly.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
