If you are a Mac user, it is essential to know which macOS version is compatible with your device. Upgrading your Mac to the latest operating system can enhance its performance and provide you with new features. However, installing an unsupported macOS version can lead to various issues, such as system crashes, slow performance, and compatibility issues.

To help you check which macOS versions your Mac is compatible with, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Apple logo located in the top left corner of your desktop screen.
  2. Select the “About This Mac” option from the menu.
  3. A new window will appear, displaying information about your Mac, including its model, processor, and memory.
  4. Click on the “Overview” tab and look for the “Model Name” and “Processor” sections.
  5. Once you have identified your Mac model and processor, go to the Apple website and check the compatibility of your device with the various macOS versions available.

Here are some macOS versions that are compatible with different Mac models:

1.macOS Catalina (10.15) – This operating system is compatible with the following Mac models:

– MacBook (2015 or later)

– MacBook Air (2012 or later)

– MacBook Pro (2012 or later)

– Mac mini (2012 or later)

– iMac (2012 or later)

– iMac Pro (2017 or later)

– Mac Pro (2013 or later)

2.macOS Mojave (10.14) – This operating system is compatible with the following Mac models:

– MacBook Air (2012 or later)

– MacBook Pro (2012 or later)

– Mac mini (2012 or later)

– iMac (2012 or later)

– iMac Pro (2017 or later)

– Mac Pro (2013 or later)

3.macOS High Sierra (10.13) – This operating system is compatible with the following Mac models:

– MacBook (Late 2009 or later)

– MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 or later)

– MacBook Air (Late 2010 or later)

– Mac mini (Mid 2010 or later)

– iMac (Late 2009 or later)

– Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or later)

4.macOS Sierra (10.12) – This operating system is compatible with the following Mac models:

– MacBook (Late 2009 or later)

– MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 or later)

– MacBook Air (Late 2010 or later)

– Mac mini (Mid 2010 or later)

– iMac (Late 2009 or later)

– Mac Pro (Mid 2010 or later)

It is important to note that the compatibility of your Mac with a specific macOS version may also depend on its memory and storage capacity. Before upgrading to a new operating system, make sure that your device meets the minimum system requirements for that version.
