This error message may appear on windows whenever you encounter issues with your internet connection, making it challenging to connect to the internet using your device.

Check Malware and Virus Status

If the “Windows Could Not Automatically Detect Network Proxy Settings” error persists, it is advisable to check for malware or virus on your computer. Follow these steps:

1.Download, install and run antivirus software like Malwarebytes to scan your device and remove any malware or viruses.

2.Restart your computer and recheck if the error message appears.

Check Proxy Settings

If Proxy settings have not been configured correctly, they can cause this error. To check and correct the Proxy settings on your device, follow these steps:

1.Open Settings on your Windows computer and click on “Network & Internet.”

2.Select “Proxy” from the left pane.

iii. Disable the “Use a proxy server” option.

1.Try connecting to the internet and check if the error message persists.

DNS Settings

DNS settings are crucial for your device to detect network proxy settings. Follow these steps to check your DNS settings and update them if required:

1.Open Settings and go to Network & Internet.

2.Click on the Change Adapter Options where you will see your available network connections.

iii. Right-click on your network and select Properties.

1.Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties.

2.Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the following:

Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8

Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

1.Click on “OK” and restart your computer.
