1.Cool the Area: Apply a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a towel to your scalp for about 15-20 minutes. This can help reduce inflammation and provide relief from the pain. You can also take a cool shower or use a cooling mist to soothe your scalp.

2.Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe vera is known for its cooling, soothing, and anti-inflammatory properties. Apply a gentle layer of pure aloe vera gel directly onto the sunburnt scalp, taking care not to disturb any loose or peeling skin.

3.Over-the-Counter Pain Relievers: To alleviate pain and reduce inflammation, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or aspirin as directed on the package. Be sure to consult your doctor if you are already on medication or have any health concerns.

4.Avoid Tight Hairstyles: Tight hairstyles like ponytails or braids can further irritate your sunburnt scalp and make it even more uncomfortable. Stick to loose or open hairstyles while your scalp recovers.

5.Stay Hydrated: Sunburns can lead to dehydration, so it is essential to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated during the healing process.

6.Wear Protective Hat: It is crucial to avoid further sun exposure on your sensitive scalp by wearing a hat when you’re outdoors. Choose one with wide brim for added protection for your face and neck areas.

7.Moisturize With Gentle Oils: Applying a gentle, lightweight oil like coconut oil or jojoba oil to your scalp can help moisturize and soothe the affected area without clogging pores or causing irritation.

8.Avoid Exfoliation and Hair Dyes: While your scalp is healing, avoid exfoliating products or hair dyes that may cause irritation, prolonging the healing process. Once the sunburn has healed, you can gradually reintroduce these products to your routine.

9.See a Dermatologist: If your scalp sunburn is severe or not improving with home remedies, it’s a good idea to consult a dermatologist who can recommend treatments such as prescription-strength creams or other interventions.

By following these nine tips, you can effectively deal with a scalp sunburn and help it heal faster while reducing discomfort and preventing further damage. Remember, prevention is the best medicine—don’t forget to wear sunscreen on your scalp and reapply frequently to avoid future burns!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
