Frozen burritos are a convenient meal option for those on the go. However, not all frozen burritos are created equal. Some can be a good source of fiber and protein, while others can be loaded with sodium and preservatives. According to a nutritionist, here are the 8 best and worst frozen burritos:

Best Frozen Burritos

1.Amy’s Kitchen Organic Black Bean Vegetable Burrito

This organic burrito features a hearty mix of black beans, veggies, and tofu. It is high in fiber and protein while being relatively low in calories, making it an excellent choice for a balanced meal.

2.Evol Foods Lean & Fit Chicken, Bean & Rice Burrito

Evol uses hormone-free chicken and a combination of black beans and brown rice. This burrito is packed with 13 grams of protein and is under 300 calories.

3.Sweet Earth Natural Foods The Anasazi Burrito

A blend of whole grains, Anasazi beans, butternut squash, and chiles offers a good amount of nutrients. Plus, it’s seasoned with natural spices to keep the sodium content in check.

4.Trader Joe’s Chicken Burrito Bowl

While technically not a handheld burrito, this bowl is worth mentioning for its lower calorie count and decent macronutrient balance with plenty of vegetables.

5.Red’s Organic Chicken Cilantro Lime Burrito

With organic chicken as the primary source of protein and brown rice for complex carbs, this frozen option is also an excellent pick for health-conscious individuals.

Worst Frozen Burritos

6.Taco Bell Beefy 5-Layer Burrito

Loaded with beef, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, and rice, this indulgence is high in calories, fat, and sodium—it’s far from ideal if you’re watching your diet.

7.El Monterey XXL Bean & Cheese Burrito

This monolithic burrito may curb your hunger but also brings along a large dose of trans fats and artificial preservatives along with its high calorie count.

8.Jose Ole Beef & Cheese Chimichanga

The deep-fried burrito is filled with processed beef and cheese that substantially increase its saturated fat content. Its nutritional value falls short compared to healthier frozen options.

In conclusion, when choosing frozen burritos, look for options that incorporate whole foods like lean meats, beans, vegetables, and whole grains—preferably organic or natural ingredients—and always check the sodium content.
