Nebraska may not be the first state that comes to mind when planning a vacation, but its small towns offer a unique charm that beckons travelers looking for an authentic slice of America. Quaint boutiques, historic landmarks, peaceful landscapes, and friendly locals are all part of the experience. Here are the eight best towns in Nebraska to visit in 2024:

1. Valentine – Known as the “Heart City,” Valentine is the gateway to the scenic Niobrara National Scenic River and Smith Falls State Park, home to Nebraska’s highest waterfall. Outdoor enthusiasts will love canoeing, kayaking, and tubing down the river amidst stunning sandstone cliffs.

2. Broken Bow – Located in the heart of the state, Broken Bow is a hub for agricultural tours and outdoor activities. Explore the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway or enjoy local wine at Broken Bow’s tasting rooms.

3. McCook – A town rich in history with an artistic twist. Visitors can explore Heritage Hills Golf Course or attend the popular Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival. The Museum of the High Plains also offers insight into regional history.

4. Nebraska City – Celebrated as the home of Arbor Day, this tree-loving town boasts Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and dozens of orchards that offer apple-picking in the fall. The Autumn Harvest Festival is a must-visit for families.

5. Ashland – Halfway between Omaha and Lincoln, Ashland offers a mix of history and technology at attractions like Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum and the elegant Carol Joy Holling Conference & Retreat Center.

6. Hastings – Birthplace of Kool-Aid, Hastings hosts an annual Kool-Aid Days festival every August that’s full of nostalgic fun. In addition, its thriving downtown area is great for shopping and dining.

7. Scottsbluff – Dominated by its namesake bluff, Scottsbluff features prominent landmarks along the Oregon Trail including Chimney Rock and Scotts Bluff National Monument. Enjoy hiking trails with awe-inspiring vistas.

8. Norfolk – A cultural hotspot with a strong community-driven spirit, Norfolk offers live music at Divots Concert Series during summer months and interactive experiences at the Elkhorn Valley Museum & Research Center.

Each of these towns reflects Nebraska’s diverse appeal—from historical roots to natural beauty—making them perfect destinations for your 2024 travels!

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
