The New York City Marathon, an event watched and participated in by thousands from across the globe, offers numerous vantage points for spectators to enjoy the race. Here are some of the best places to watch the New York City Marathon:

1. Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn: This spot allows spectators to watch the runners in the early stages of the race when they’re full of energy and the crowd’s excitement is palpable. Make sure to secure a good spot before it gets crowded!

2. Williamsburg and Greenpoint: For those who want to experience a local and hip vibe while cheering on the runners, these trendy neighborhoods don’t disappoint. Plus, there are plenty of cafes for a quick warm-up if it’s a chilly November day.

3. Pulaski Bridge: Connecting Brooklyn and Queens, this spot is perfect for viewing the runners as they approach the halfway point. The bridge’s elevation gives you a wide look at the marathon as it unfolds.

4. First Avenue in Manhattan: A prime location due to its length and straight path; it’s ideal for marathon parties and long-term spectating.

5. East Harlem (Mile 18-20): Known as a quieter area of the course, here you can get close to the runners—perfect for those with friends or family participating, as your cheers will be easily heard.

6. Fifth Avenue along Central Park: Before entering Central Park, runners hit “Museum Mile” on Fifth Avenue, creating an atmosphere that’s electric, surrounded by some of New York’s iconic cultural institutions.

7. Finish Line at Central Park: Although it requires purchasing grandstand seating tickets in advance, there’s nothing like watching as exhausted runners light up with joy, crossing that much-anticipated finish line.

Remember that wherever you choose to watch the race from, be prepared for any kind of weather, know how you plan to get there (with road closures to consider), bring snacks and drinks if necessary, and above all else—bring your enthusiasm to support all of these incredible athletes!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
