7 of My Best Tips for Hosting a Dinner Party Everyone Will Enjoy

Hosting a dinner party can be both exciting and daunting. Here are seven tips to ensure your guests have a memorable evening:

  1. Plan ahead: Create a menu and timeline at least a week in advance. This allows you to shop for ingredients and prepare some dishes ahead of time.
  2. Consider dietary restrictions: Ask your guests about any food allergies or preferences beforehand. Having options for everyone shows thoughtfulness.
  3. Set the ambiance: Create a welcoming atmosphere with appropriate lighting, music, and table settings. A well-set table can be a conversation starter.
  4. Start with appetizers: Have some light bites ready when guests arrive. This buys you time if you’re still finishing up the main course.
  5. Keep conversation flowing: Prepare some interesting topics or games to avoid awkward silences. A mix of guests from different circles can lead to engaging discussions.
  6. Don’t aim for perfection: Remember, your guests are there for the company as much as the food. If something doesn’t turn out exactly as planned, laugh it off.
  7. End on a sweet note: A simple dessert and coffee or tea can be a perfect way to wind down the evening. It doesn’t have to be elaborate – even store-bought treats can work well.

Remember, the key to a successful dinner party is to relax and enjoy the company of your guests. Your mood sets the tone for the evening, so if you’re having fun, your guests likely will too!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
