6 Ways to Style Wet Hair

When you’re running late or simply don’t have the luxury of time for a blow-dry, wet hair can be a real inconvenience. It doesn’t mean you’ll be destined to wear another boring bun or struggle through a rough drying experience. There’s an array of hairstyles that look chic and stylish, plus they hold up well even on damp tresses. Here are 6 ways to style wet hair that can save your day and elevate your look.

1. Sleek Low Bun

A sleek low bun is an elegant option for damp hair, and it’s effortless to achieve. Simply brush your hair back, then gather it at the nape of your neck. Twist it into a tight bun, and secure with an elastic band or hairpins. For added polish, smooth any loose strands with a bit of styling gel or mousse.

2. Twisted Crown

Give your wet mane a bohemian touch with this charming twisted crown style. Start by parting your hair in the middle and divide it into two sections on either side. Begin twisting one section toward the back of your head until you reach the other side. Use bobby pins to secure it, then repeat on the other side.

3. Fishtail Braid

A classic fishtail braid can elegantly tame your damp locks while adding visual intrigue. Divide your hair into two even sections. Start weaving by taking a small strand from one section, cross it over, and join it with the other section. Continue this pattern until you reach the end of your hair and secure with an elastic band.

4. French Braid Pigtails

This playful style works perfectly on wet hair as texture aides in grip while braiding. Part your hair down the middle and create two French braids on either side of your head, starting at the front and working your way down to the ends. Secure each braid with a hair tie, and feel free to let the bottom of the braids stay damp – they’ll look casual and chic.

5. Rope Twist Ponytail

Upgrade your regular ponytail by adding a rope twist element. Gather your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic band. Divide the ponytail into two equal sections, twist each section clockwise all the way down to the end, then wrap them around one another counterclockwise to create a rope-like effect. Secure the end of the twist with a hair tie.

6. Slicked-Back Look

Embrace the wet-hair aesthetic with a sleek, slicked-back ‘do. Apply styling gel or mousse to your damp hair and comb it back, smoothing any bumps or loose strands. You can let your hair air-dry naturally or use a diffuser attachment on your hairdryer for faster drying without ruining the sleek look.
Don’t let wet hair dampen your style game! With these 6 chic wet-hair looks, you’ll be turning heads no matter how limited your time or styling tools may be.
