Windows 11 offers several options for selectively deleting files. Whether you need to free up space on your computer or you’re just looking to organize your files, Here are six ways to do it.

1. Use File Explorer

One of the most straightforward methods of selectively deleting files in Windows 11 is by using File Explorer. Simply open the File Explorer, navigate to the folder or file location you want to remove, select the files you want to delete, then right-click and select “Delete” from the context menu.

2. Use the Command Prompt

Another way to selectively delete files in Windows 11 is to use the Command Prompt. Open the Command Prompt and navigate to the folder or file location, then use the command ‘del filename.ext’ to delete the selected file(s).

3. Use the Disk Cleanup Tool

The Disk Cleanup tool is a built-in utility in Windows 11 that allows you to delete unnecessary files, including temporary files, system files, and old offline files. To access the Disk Cleanup tool, search for it in the Start menu and select the drive you want to clean up.

4. Use a Disk Cleaner App

There are several third-party applications that function as disk cleaners. These apps allow you to selectively delete files while taking into account various system factors like file types, file sizes, and file extensions. Some of the popular applications include CCleaner, CleanMyPC, and Disk Cleanup Pro.

5. Use the Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin is a utility in Windows 11 that stores deleted files and allows you to restore them before permanently deleting them. To use it, select the files you want to delete, then drag and drop them into the Recycle Bin.

6. Use Disk Defragmenter

Disk Defragmenter is another built-in utility in Windows 11 that allows you to optimize the data storage on your computer’s hard drive. During the optimization process, the tool will remove any unnecessary files that may be taking up space on your hard drive, thus freeing up space for new files.

In conclusion, there are many ways to selectively delete files on a Windows 11 computer. Using the built-in utilities like File Explorer, Disk Cleanup, Recycle Bin, and Disk Defragmenter is easy and straightforward. On the other hand, you can also choose to use third-party applications like disk cleaners for more features and advanced options.
