Are you missing out on important updates because your Google Drive notifications aren’t popping up on your mobile device or desktop? It can be frustrating when you’re expecting to be pinged about document changes, shared files, or other collaborations in progress, and your tech isn’t cooperating. Fortunately, there are several fixes you can try to get back on track with your notifications. Here are the 6 best fixes for Google Drive notifications not working on both mobile and desktop platforms:

1. Check Notification Settings in Google Drive

Ensure that notifications are enabled within the Google Drive app or website. Head into settings and confirm that you’ve turned on all necessary toggles for the types of notifications you want to receive.

2. Update Your Google Drive App

If you’re using an outdated version of the Google Drive app on your mobile device, it may lead to notification issues. Check the App Store or Google Play Store for any available updates for Google Drive and install them.

3. Review Device Notification Settings

On both mobile devices and desktops, make sure that system-level notification permissions for Google Drive are enabled. These settings can override individual app settings and prevent notifications from appearing.

4. Clear App Cache and Data (Mobile)

Corrupted cache files can cause unexpected app behavior. Clearing cache or app data can solve these issues. On Android devices, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Apps’ > ‘Google Drive’ > ‘Storage’ and then tap ‘Clear Cache’ or ‘Clear Data’. Note: Clearing data will reset the app to its default state.

5. Disable Battery Saver Mode (Mobile)

Battery saving features can restrict background data and limit functionality which might include notifications. Make sure that these power-saving modes are disabled for Google Drive.

6. Reinstall the App

If all else fails, uninstalling and then reinstalling the Google Drive app can resolve persistent notification problems. This gives a fresh start by removing any lingering issues from previous installations.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve any notification issues with Google Drive, keeping you connected and informed about all your collaborative work efforts on both mobile devices and desktop computers.
