Ham is a delicious and versatile dish that can be the star of any meal, but the secret to a phenomenal ham lies in choosing the right glaze. The glaze adds an extra layer of flavor, balancing the saltiness of the ham while also complementing its natural sweetness. Here are five different ways to make glaze for your ham, each with its unique twist that will surely impress your guests.

1. Classic Brown Sugar Glaze

Ingredients:

– 1 cup brown sugar

– 1/4 cup honey

– 1/4 cup mustard

– 2 tablespoons cider vinegar

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until smooth and fully combined. Brush the mixture over the ham during the last hour of cooking, and reapply as needed until you reach your desired coverage.

2. Spicy Pineapple Glaze

Ingredients:

– 1 cup pineapple juice

– 1/2 cup brown sugar

– 1/4 cup soy sauce

– 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce

– 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients except cornstarch in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then add it to the saucepan. Cook until the glaze thickens. Brush on ham during the last half hour of cooking.

3. Orange Marmalade Glaze

Ingredients:

– 1 cup orange marmalade

– 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

– 2 tablespoons honey

– Zest of one orange

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until smooth and heated through. Brush the mixture on ham during the last hour of cooking, and reapply as needed.

4. Maple Bourbon Glaze

Ingredients:

– 1 cup maple syrup

– 1/4 cup bourbon

– 2 tablespoons mustard

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– Pinch of ground cloves

Instructions:

In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat until well mixed and heated through. Brush the mixture over your ham during the last hour of cooking, reapplying as needed.

5. Apricot Honey Glaze

Ingredients:

– 1 cup apricot preserves

– 1/4 cup honey

– 2 tablespoons mustard

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat until fully combined and heated through. Brush on ham during the last hour of cooking.

Each of these glazes provides a unique flavor profile that can enhance your ham in different ways. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find the one that suits your taste buds best. A well-glazed ham will impress your guests and become the crowning glory of your meal.
