Slime has become a popular activity for children and adults alike. It’s a fun and satisfying sensory experience that can be customized in various colors and textures. However, many slime recipes call for borax, a chemical that may not be safe for young children or those with sensitive skin. In this article, we will discuss four ways to make slime without using borax.

1. Baking Soda and Contact Lens Solution

This method combines baking soda and contact lens solution as an alternative to borax. You’ll need the following ingredients:

– 1/2 cup clear glue or white PVA glue

– 1/2 cup water

– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

– 1 tablespoon contact lens solution

First, mix the glue and water until smooth. Then, stir in the baking soda. Slowly add the contact lens solution while mixing until you achieve your desired consistency. Knead the slime with your hands to make it stretchy and smooth.

2. Cornstarch and Shampoo

Another way to make slime without borax is by using cornstarch and shampoo. You’ll need:

– 1/2 cup cornstarch

– 1/4 cup shampoo (use a thick, creamy kind)

– Optional: food coloring

Pour the shampoo into a bowl and mix in food coloring if desired. Add the cornstarch gradually, stirring until you get the right consistency. Once it’s pliable, knead it with your hands to create a slightly different texture than regular slime but still fun to play with.

3. Dish Soap and Sugar

This simple recipe requires only two ingredients – dish soap and sugar!

– 1/4 cup dish soap

– 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Mix dish soap and sugar in a bowl until well combined. Microwave for 10 seconds, then stir again. Repeat this process until the mixture thickens to a slime-like consistency (usually two or three times). Allow your slime to cool before playing with it.

4. Instant Pudding Mix

For an edible and borax-free slime, try using instant pudding mix!

– 1 box instant pudding mix (choose any flavor)

– 1 1/2 cups milk

– Optional: food coloring

Whisk the pudding mix and milk together in a bowl until smooth. If desired, mix in food coloring for extra fun. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes to thicken up. Once it reaches a slime-like consistency, it’s ready to play with and can even be eaten as a treat.

In conclusion, there are many alternatives to borax when it comes to making slime. You can experiment with different ingredients that you may already have at home to create safe and entertaining slimes for everyone to enjoy. So go ahead, unleash your creativity, and have fun making slime without borax!
