Curly fries have long been a favorite among fast-food lovers. Their distinctive shape, combined with their flavorful seasoning, make them an irresistible snack. If you’re craving these delicious spirals but don’t want to head out to the nearest fast-food joint, don’t worry! We’ve got four fantastic methods for making curly fries at home, suited to everyone from kitchen novices to seasoned chefs.

1. The Spiralizer Method

For those who love convenience, using a spiralizer is the way to go. This kitchen gadget easily produces spiral-cut vegetables perfect for turning into curly fries.

– Wash and peel your potatoes.

– Place the potato into the spiralizer and turn it until you have a pile of curly fries.

– Soak the fries in cold water for 20-30 minutes before gently padding dry with a paper towel.

– Coat them lightly with oil, salt, and any favorite seasonings.

– Cook in an air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

2. The Mandoline Slicer Method

A mandoline slicer can also be used to achieve the curly effect.

– Wash and peel your potatoes.

– Use a mandoline slicer with a julienne blade attachment to thinly slice the potatoes (ensure they have a curled shape).

– Follow steps 3 through 5 from the spiralizer method above.

3. The Manual Peeler Method

If you don’t have any fancy gadgets in your kitchen, you can make do with what you have – even a simple manual peeler!

– Wash and peel your potatoes.

– Using your manual peeler, press down with firm pressure, rotating the potato as you go to create long thin slices with curled edges.

– Follow steps 3 through 5 from the spiralizer method above.

4. The Skillet Method

For those who want to experiment with something slightly different, cooking your curly fries in a skillet can produce excellent results.

– Follow steps 1 through 3 from the spiralizer method above.

– Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Aim for a temperature of 350-375°F (175-190°C).

– Fry the potato spirals in small batches until golden brown.

– Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

– Season with salt and other favorite spices while still hot.

Now that you know how to make curly fries in four ways, you’re prepared to whip up these tasty treats whenever you please. Serve them alongside your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy their crispy goodness!
