Limes offer a unique citrusy flavor that can enhance any dish, or add the perfect tang to a refreshing beverage. To optimize their usage and add some zest to your life, learn four different ways to cut limes.

1. Lime Wedges

Lime wedges are a versatile and popular choice for drinks, garnishes, and cooking.

Instructions:

– Thoroughly wash the lime.

– Place the lime vertically on a cutting board.

– Slice it in half from the top to the bottom.

– Take one half and place it cut-side down.

– Cut multiple, even-sized wedges by slicing lengthwise through the lime half.

2. Lime Wheels

Lime wheels are a visually appealing garnish for cocktails or dishes that require a touch of citrus.

Instructions:

– Wash the lime thoroughly.

– Lay the lime horizontally on the cutting board.

– Using a sharp knife, cut off both ends of the lime.

– Cut thin, even slices (wheels) across the width of the lime.

3. Lime Supreme

A lime supreme refers to individual segments without any seeds or pith. They are ideal for salads and fruit platters.

Instructions:

– Thoroughly wash the lime.

– Cut off both ends of the lime so it sits flat on a cutting board.

– Follow the curve of the fruit to remove all skin and pith with your knife from top to bottom until only clean fruit remains.

– Carefully cut out each individual segment by running your knife along either side of its membrane.

4. Lime Zest

Lime zest adds an invigorating touch to desserts, cocktails, or savory dishes.

Instructions:

– Wash and dry your lime thoroughly.

– Hold a citrus zester or microplane grater at an angle against one end of your washed and dried lime.

– Applying medium pressure, scrape the zest off, avoiding the white pith.

– Rotate the lime to obtain more zest without getting too deep into the pith.

Explore these four mighty ways of cutting limes to upgrade your dishes or cocktails and add some excitement to your culinary experiences.
