3 Ways to Use a Coat Hanger to Break Into a Car

Introduction:

We’ve all been there – accidentally locking ourselves out of our cars, or needing to help someone else who’s locked out. In these circumstances, using a coat hanger can be an unconventional but surprisingly effective solution. Before attempting any of the methods described below, be sure that the car belongs to you or you have permission from the owner. Breaking into someone else’s car without permission is illegal and unethical.

Method 1: Hooking the Door Lock

1.Unwind the coat hanger wire and straighten it to create a long rod.

2.Create a small hook at one end of the wire by bending it with your fingers or pliers.

3. Carefully slide the hook end between the car window and door frame, positioning it close to where the door lock is located.

4. Maneuver the hooked wire so that it catches the interior door lock.

5. Gently tug on the wire, lifting it upward to unlock the door.

Method 2: Pressing The Unlock Button

1. Unwind and straighten a coat hanger until you’ve created a long rod.

2. At one end of the rod, create a loop that’s large enough to fit over your car’s unlock button.

3. Ease one edge of the looped end into the space between your window and door frame.

4. Snake your wire inside, while simultaneously moving downward until you’ve reached your car’s unlock button.

5. With precision, fit your loop around the button and gently press on it to release your car’s locking mechanism.

Method 3: Sliding The Window Open

This method may not work on newer vehicles with advanced security features, but is worth trying on older models with manual windows.

1. Prepare your coat hanger by bending it into an extended hook shape.

2. Carefully insert the hook between the glass and the rubber window seal at the bottom edge of the car window.

3. Gently move your hanger back and forth until it catches onto the window’s base.

4. Apply consistent pressure while simultaneously pulling up on the wire, encouraging your window to slide open.

Conclusion:

While a coat hanger can be a quick and resourceful way to regain access to your vehicle in times of need, it’s important to be cautious while executing these maneuvers to avoid causing any damage. If you’re hesitant about these methods or worried about harming your car, contact a professional locksmith who can ensure safe and efficient entry into your vehicle.
