Introduction:

Ear piercings can close up for various reasons, including neglect or an infection. If you have a partially closed ear piercing hole and want to reopen it, there are several methods you can try. This article will discuss three ways to safely and effectively reopen a partially closed ear piercing hole.

1. Self-Insertion of a Sterilized Earring:

One of the easiest methods to reopen a partially closed ear piercing hole is by self-inserting a sterilized earring. Follow these steps.

a. Clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

b. Sterilize the earring with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.

c. Gently press the earring into the hole, applying minimal pressure.

d. If you feel resistance, stop immediately and consult a professional.

e. Once the earring is inserted successfully, clean the area with a saline solution.

f. It’s essential to be gentle during this process to avoid causing further damage or infection.

2. Use of a Taper for Gradual Reopening:

A taper can be used to gradually open a partially closed ear piercing hole. Tapers are available in various sizes, so choose one that is slightly smaller than the original size of your piercing:

a. Begin by cleaning your hands and the ear area with soap and water.

b. Apply lubricant such as vitamin E oil or water-based lube on the taper.

c. Gently insert the taper into the hole until resistance is felt.

d. Slowly push it through over several hours or days until it reaches its full size.

e. Replace the taper with an appropriately sized earring.

Remember to never force the taper through if it feels painful – take your time.

3. Professional Reopening:

If you’re unable to reopen your partially closed ear piercing hole yourself or find it too daunting, consider seeking help from a professional piercer.

a. A professional will have the necessary experience and tools to reopen the piercing without causing further harm.

b. Ensure that you choose a licensed and reputable piercer to guarantee a safe environment.

Conclusion:

Reopening a partially closed ear piercing hole can be done through self-insertion of a sterilized earring, gradual reopening with a taper, or by seeking assistance from a professional piercer. Remember to follow the appropriate steps and maintain proper hygiene to prevent infection and further complications.
