Introduction:

Scratches on your sunglasses not only affect their appearance but can also obstruct your vision. Whether it’s a minor scratch or a deeper one, there are ways to remove them and restore the functionality and look of your sunglasses. In this article, we will discuss three effective methods to help you get rid of those pesky scratches.

1. Toothpaste Method:

One of the easiest and inexpensive ways to remove scratches from sunglasses is using regular toothpaste. Here’s how you can do it:

– Clean the lenses with water and dry them with a soft cloth.

– Apply a small amount of non-abrasive toothpaste (without gel) on the scratched area.

– Rub the toothpaste in a circular motion using a cotton ball or soft cloth for about 10 seconds.

– Rinse off the toothpaste and check if the scratches have been removed.

– If necessary, repeat the process until you achieve the desired results.

Remember that this method works best for minor scratches.

2. Baking Soda and Water:

Another effective method to eliminate scratches from your sunglasses involves using baking soda and water. Follow these steps:

– Mix equal parts of baking soda and water to create a thick paste.

– Apply the paste onto the scratched area using a cotton ball or soft cloth.

– Gently rub in a circular motion for around 10 seconds.

– Rinse off the paste with cool water and dry the lenses with a soft cloth.

– Examine the results, and repeat if necessary.

This method is suitable for both minor and slightly deeper scratches.

3. Professional Lens Repair Kit:

For deeper scratches or high-quality lenses, it might be best to use a professional lens repair kit. These kits contain specialized solutions designed specifically for removing scratches from glass or plastic surfaces. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions provided in your chosen kit. Some key steps typically include:

– Clean the lenses thoroughly with water and dry them with a soft cloth.

– Apply the repair solution onto the scratched area using a cotton swab or soft cloth as directed.

– Allow the solution to set for the required time mentioned in the instructions (usually a few minutes).

– Gently buff off excess solution with a clean, soft cloth.

– Inspect the lenses and repeat the process if necessary.

Conclusion:

Scratches on sunglasses can be frustrating, but fortunately, there are several ways to deal with them. Toothpaste and baking soda methods work well for minor scratches, while professional lens repair kits are suitable for deeper ones. Remember to always handle your sunglasses with care and use a protective case to prevent future scratches from occurring.
