3 Ways to Raise the Height of a Table

Introduction

Sometimes, you need to increase the height of your table for various reasons, such as ergonomics, more storage space, or accommodating taller chairs. There are several ways to do this without the need for replacing the table altogether. In this article, we will explore three ways to raise the height of a table.

1. Furniture Risers

Furniture risers are an affordable and efficient solution for raising the height of a table. They come in different shapes, sizes, and materials such as wood, metal, or plastic. Furniture risers usually have a recessed area where you simply place the table legs. The risers elevate the table by a few inches or more.

To use furniture risers:

– Measure the diameter of your table legs to select appropriate-sized risers.

– Choose a set of furniture risers with an appropriate height difference based on your needs.

– Place one riser under each leg of the table and ensure it sits securely.

2. Leg Extenders

Leg extenders attach directly to your existing table legs and can add a significant amount of height. They often come with adjustable mechanisms that allow you to precisely set the desired height.

To install leg extenders:

– Determine how high you want to raise your table.

– Measure and purchase leg extenders that match your table legs’ shape and size and can accommodate the additional height needed.

– Detach or unscrew the existing legs from your table if necessary.

– Attach or screw in the leg extenders to the base where the original legs were attached.

– Adjust the new legs’ height as needed and ensure they are secure.

3. Replace Table Legs

If you’re handy with tools and eager for a more permanent solution, consider replacing your existing table legs with longer ones.

To replace table legs:

– Determine how high you want to raise your table.

– Purchase replacement legs in the correct size and style that match your table’s overall aesthetic. Ensure the new legs are longer than the existing ones.

– Remove the current legs by detaching or unscrewing them from your table.

– Attach or screw in the new, longer legs. Depending on the table construction, you may need brackets or additional hardware for a secure fit.

– Level and secure the new legs, ensuring they are firmly connected to the tabletop.

Conclusion

Raising the height of a table can be done quickly and easily using furniture risers, leg extenders, or by replacing the table legs entirely. Consider factors such as height requirements, budget, and your DIY skills when choosing a method that best suits your needs. Make sure to measure and level everything carefully to ensure a stable and comfortable table.
