3 Ways to Make Dreads Grow Faster

Growing dreadlocks can sometimes feel like a daunting challenge, especially when it’s taking longer than anticipated. The good news is that there are ways to make your dreads grow faster and healthier without resorting to extreme measures. Here are three proven methods to speed up the growth of your dreadlocks and help you achieve the length you’ve always wanted.

1. Proper Nutrition and Hydration

One of the most important aspects of promoting dreadlock growth is ensuring that your body gets the right nutrients necessary for healthy hair. Consuming a balanced diet that includes all the essential vitamins and minerals will go a long way in ensuring your hair grows strong and fast. Make sure to include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your diet.

Hydration is equally important to maintain hair health. Drinking enough water on a daily basis not only helps with overall health but also promotes healthy scalp and hair growth. Aim for at least eight glasses of water per day, as adequate hydration helps in flushing out toxins from the body, improving circulation, and nourishing hair follicles.

2. Regular Scalp Massage

Massaging your scalp regularly can prove beneficial in promoting dreadlock growth. A gentle scalp massage stimulates blood flow to the hair follicles and encourages faster hair growth by providing essential nutrients directly to the roots of your dreads. Spend a few minutes each day gently massaging your scalp with circular motions using your fingertips or a soft-bristled brush.

Additionally, using natural oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, or castor oil during scalp massages can further boost hair growth by providing added nourishment and improving overall scalp health. Make sure you don’t overdo it though – too much oil can be counterproductive as it may lead to buildup within your dreads. Aim for using these oils once or twice a week at most.

3. Proper Maintenance and Care

The manner in which you care for and maintain your dreadlocks plays a significant role in their growth rate. Avoid over-washing your hair, as it can strip your scalp of natural oils that are essential for healthy hair growth. Washing your dreads once a week or every two weeks is generally sufficient.

It is also crucial to keep your dreadlocks clean and moisturized. Dry dreads tend to break easily, causing hair loss and slow growth. Use a sulfate-free shampoo to avoid drying out your hair, and consider using a leave-in conditioner specifically formulated for dreadlocks to keep them well-moisturized.

Lastly, avoid using heat treatments and chemicals on your dreads, as these can cause significant damage to the hair structure, leading to breakage and slow growth. Stick to gentle handling and maintenance techniques, and always be patient with the process – remember that healthy dreadlocks take time to grow.

In conclusion, focusing on proper nutrition and hydration, regular scalp massages with essential oils, and maintaining good dreadlock care practices can help you achieve faster growth for your dreads. Stay committed to these tips, be patient, and watch as your dreadlocks flourish in no time!
