3 Ways to Make a Bed in Your Car

Are you planning a road trip or simply want a cozy spot to rest while on the go? Converting your car into a makeshift bedroom can prove to be quite convenient. Here are three innovative methods to create a comfortable bed in your vehicle.

1. Inflatable Car Mattress

An inflatable car mattress is an excellent option for creating a makeshift bed in your car. These mattresses are designed specifically for cars and fit nicely in the backseat, providing ample cushion and support for a restful sleep on the road.

To set up an inflatable car mattress, start by clearing any objects in the backseat area. Next, inflate the mattress using an air pump supplied with it or one you have separately purchased. Once fully inflated, position the mattress on the rear seat, ensuring that it fits securely across the backrests and seating area. Lastly, add pillows and blankets as needed for added comfort.

2. Folding The Rear Seats Down

If your vehicle has foldable rear seats, this method provides a more spacious sleeping area. Check if your car seats can fully fold down horizontally, creating an even surface ideal for laying out a bed setup.

Begin by folding down the rear seats and removing any headrests if possible. Then, place foam padding or an inflated camping pad on top of the surface, to make it more comfortable for sleeping. Add pillows and blankets as required for added warmth and coziness.

3. Sleeping On The Roof

For those with SUVs or vehicles with roof racks, sleeping on top of your car provides a unique experience, especially when camping or star-gazing in remote locations. To create a rooftop bed, start by installing crossbars on your roof rack if needed.

Once the roof rack is ready, place an elevated roof platform atop the crossbars. Utilize ratchet straps to secure the platform tightly to the rack. Next, lay down a camping pad or outdoor futon mattress on the platform. Finally, add weatherproof blankets and pillows to complete the setup. Always use caution when entering and exiting your rooftop bed, particularly in darkness.

In conclusion, transforming your car into a temporary bedroom is possible with a bit of creativity and these three handy methods. Choose the option that suits your vehicle and preferences best to enjoy a comfortable space to rest while traveling or enjoying the great outdoors.
