Winged eyeliner is an iconic makeup trend that instantly adds definition and drama to your eyes. Though it may seem like a daunting task to perfect, it’s actually quite simple once you know a few tricks. A versatile and cost-effective tool for achieving the winged look is the trusty pencil eyeliner. In this article, we’ll go through three ways to achieve flawless winged eyeliner using a pencil.

1.The Classic Wing

The classic wing technique creates a timeless look that suits any occasion.

Step 1: Start by sharpening your pencil eyeliner for precise application. Choose a color that complements your eye color and makeup style.

Step 2: Begin applying the liner along your upper lash line, starting from the inner corner of the eye and working outwards. Keep the line thin and close to the lash line for an everyday look.

Step 3: Once you’ve reached the outer corner of your eye, angle your pencil upwards and draw a diagonal line towards the tail of your eyebrow. The length of this line can vary depending on how dramatic you want your wing to be.

Step 4: Connect the tip of the wing to your lash line by drawing another diagonal line back towards your eye, creating a triangular shape. Fill in any gaps or empty spaces within this triangle.

2.The Double Wing

For a more adventurous approach, try creating two wings on each eye for an edgy, modern look.

Step 1: Follow steps 1-3 from the Classic Wing technique.

Step 2: Next, create a smaller second wing just below the first one by drawing another diagonal line at an angle parallel to and slightly shorter than the first one. The starting point for this wing should be around halfway along your lower lash line.

Step 3: Connect the tip of this smaller wing back towards your eye by drawing another diagonal line parallel to the first wing. Fill in any gaps as necessary.

3.The Soft Smoky Wing

The soft smoky wing technique is a perfect option for those who prefer a more subtle, sultry effect.

Step 1: Follow steps 1-3 from the Classic Wing technique, but use a slightly thicker line along the upper lash line.

Step 2: After completing the first wing, use a small blending or smudging brush to softly blend and diffuse the edges of the wing. This will create a smokier, softer appearance.

Step 3: Apply pencil liner along your lower lash line and blend it out with a brush as well, for added smoky effect.

By trying these three winged eyeliner techniques using a pencil, you can achieve various levels of drama and intrigue in your makeup looks. Practice makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find which style suits you best.
