3 Ways to Do 60s Hairdos

Introduction: The 1960s was an era of iconic hairstyles that have withstood the test of time. From voluminous beehives to chic bobs, these hairdos continue to inspire modern-day styles. If you’re looking for a retro touch to your look, here are three fabulous ways to recreate 60s-inspired hairdos.

1. The Beehive

This sleek and sophisticated hairstyle was popularized by stars like Audrey Hepburn and Aretha Franklin. To create this classic look, follow these steps:

– Start by spraying your hair with a volumizing product and then tease sections at the crown of your head using a fine-tooth comb.

– Next, smooth the teased sections with a bristle brush, creating a curved silhouette.

– Once the desired volume and shape is achieved, collect your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a hair tie.

– Take the ponytail and wrap it around the base to form a bun, securing it with bobby pins.

– For extra hold and shine, gently spritz your beehive with hairspray.

2. The Pageboy

This versatile style can work for both short and medium-length hair. Made famous by stars like Jackie Kennedy, this polished look is perfect for those who want a bit more sophistication in their ‘do.

– Start by creating a deep side part in your hair using a rattail comb.

– Apply heat protection spray and then use a round brush while blow-drying your hair to create extra volume at the roots.

– Curl the ends of your hair under using either a flat iron or a curling iron.

– Finish by spraying hairspray over your Pageboy style to lock it in place.

3. The Twiggy Pixie Cut

This super-short hairstyle is famously associated with fashion icon Twiggy. The Pixie Cut is perfect for those who want a low-maintenance yet bold and stylish look.

– If your hair is already short, ensure that the length is uniform and get your hair trimmed into a classic pixie cut.

– Style your pixie using a lightweight styling wax or pomade. Apply the product to your fingertips and gently comb through your hair to create texture and separation.

– Tuck the sides of your hair behind your ears and set in place with hairpins if needed.

– To maintain this style, get regular trims every four to six weeks.

Conclusion: Embracing a 60s-inspired hairdo is a unique way to express yourself and add some classic flair to your style. Whether it’s the glamorous beehive, the polished pageboy, or the chic Twiggy pixie cut, these timeless hairstyles will always be in vogue. Try your hand at one or try all three; you’re sure to make heads turn!
