3 Ways to Clean a Fitbit

Wearable fitness devices, like Fitbit, constantly help users track their daily activities and progress towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. To ensure that these trackers operate accurately, regular cleaning is essential. Over time, germs, sweat, dirt, and debris can accumulate on your Fitbit device. By routinely cleaning your fitness tracker, you can prevent skin irritation and prolong the life of your device. In this article, we will explore three effective ways to clean a Fitbit and keep it in optimal condition.

1. Wiping with a Damp Cloth or Cleaning Wipe

One of the easiest ways to clean your Fitbit is by wiping it with a damp cloth or pre-moistened cleaning wipe. Always avoid soaking the device in water or using any harsh chemicals as it may damage the internal components of the tracker. Follow these steps to clean your device with a damp cloth or cleaning wipe:

– Turn off your Fitbit and remove it from any charging cables.

– Mix a solution of water and mild detergent in a small bowl.

– Dampen a soft lint-free cloth or cotton swab with the soapy solution.

– Gently wipe the device’s surface, focusing on any dirty areas.

– Dry your Fitbit using a different clean cloth or let it air dry.

2. Using an Alcohol-Free Electronic Cleaning Spray

Alcohol-free electronic cleaning sprays are another effective way to clean your Fitbit without causing damage. These types of cleaners are designed specifically for electronic devices and can safely remove dirt, sweat, and grime. To use an alcohol-free electronic cleaning spray:

– Turn off your Fitbit and remove it from any charging cables.

– Spray the cleaner onto a soft lint-free cloth or cotton swab; avoid spraying directly onto the device.

– Gently wipe down the surfaces of the tracker, paying attention to areas where dirt or sweat has accumulated.

– Allow the Fitbit to air dry after cleaning.

3. Cleaning the Wristband

Since the wristband is in constant contact with your skin, it’s crucial to clean it regularly. Follow these steps to clean the wristband of your Fitbit:

– Remove the wristband from the tracker, if possible.

– Mix a solution of water and mild detergent in a small bowl.

– Dampen a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with the soapy solution and gently wipe down the wristband.

– Rinse the wristband with clean water and pat dry with a towel or let it air dry. Ensure that the wristband is completely dry before attaching it back to the tracker.

By employing these three cleaning methods, you’ll be able to keep your Fitbit tracker clean and avoid any issues related to hygiene or function. Regular cleaning not only maintains your device’s accuracy but also ensures its longevity, so you can continue tracking your fitness goals without any hitches.
