3 Simple Ways to Prevent Drunk Texting

Introduction:

Drunk texting has become an all too common blunder in the age of smartphones and instant communication. It can lead to embarrassment, strained relationships, and sometimes even lasting consequences. To save yourself from this modern-day mischief, we’ve come up with three simple ways to prevent drunk texting.

1. Use a Texting App with a “Sober Check” Feature:

Several texting apps offer a built-in feature that requires you to pass a simple sobriety test before you can send a text message. These tests might include solving basic math problems or performing certain gestures on your phone’s screen. By using such an app as your primary text messaging service, you can greatly reduce the chance of sending regrettable messages when you’re under the influence.

Some popular options include:

– Drunk Mode

– Drunk Lock

– Sober Grid

2. Create a Do-Not-Text List:

Before heading to a party or any event where alcohol will be consumed, prepare a list of people you should avoid texting under any circumstances. This list may include ex-partners, co-workers, or anyone else you fear could result in an awkward conversation if approached while intoxicated.

Save this list on your smartphone or write it down somewhere easily accessible, and commit yourself to avoiding contact with those individuals during any drinking sessions. For added protection, delete their phone numbers from your contact list until you sober up.

3. Phone-a-Friend or Assign a Designated Texter:

Another effective way of preventing drunk texting is by involving a close friend who’s aware of your tendency to make impulsive decisions after consuming alcohol. You can either ask them to hold onto your phone for the night or serve as your designated texter – someone who can vet any messages you want to send while drinking.

If you’re attending an event alone, consider connecting with someone beforehand who agrees to be your trusted text guardian for the night. Remember, it’s always better to have someone you trust to act as a sounding board rather than sending regrettable messages on impulse.

Conclusion:

Drunk texting can result in a world of regrets and potential complications. It’s crucial to take preventive measures before alcohol impairs your judgement. With these three simple strategies, you can ensure that your private thoughts don’t turn into public embarrassments. So, next time you go out for a drink, keep these tips in mind and make sure every message you send is one you won’t regret in the morning.
