3 Easy Ways to Make Sims 4 Run Faster

Introduction:

The Sims 4, an engaging life simulation game, offers hours of entertainment, creativity, and fun. However, as you continue to build larger homes, design more complex neighborhoods, and explore different expansions, your game may start lagging. Fret not! Here are three easy ways to make Sims 4 run faster on your computer so you can enjoy the game without a hitch!

1. Lower Your Game Settings:

One of the simplest ways to improve your Sims 4 gameplay is by adjusting the in-game settings. High-quality graphics and detailed textures may look appealing but can tax your computer’s capabilities, leading to slower performance. To lower your game settings, follow these steps:

– Open The Sims 4 and click on the Options menu (three dots in the top-right corner).

– Select ‘Game Options.’

– Click on the ‘Graphics’ tab.

– Change the available options as follows:

– Resolution: Opt for a lower resolution than the default one.

– Refresh Rate: Set it to the lowest possible value.

– Graphics Quality: Choose a lower setting or customize individual settings such as ‘Sims,’ ‘Objects,’ ‘Lighting,’ ‘Reflections,’ ‘Visual Effects,’ and ‘Draw Distance.’

Don’t worry – this won’t change anything significant in terms of gameplay; only the visuals will be affected.

2. Update Your Drivers:

Often overlooked, updating your graphic card drivers is crucial for ensuring smooth gaming experiences. Manufacturers like NVIDIA and AMD frequently release updates for their drivers to resolve common performance issues and provide optimizations for various games. To update your drivers, follow these steps:

– Determine which graphics card is installed on your computer. On Windows, right-click on ‘This PC,’ choose ‘Properties,’ select ‘Device Manager,’ expand the Display Adapters section.

– Once you know what graphics card you have, visit its manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA or AMD), and download the latest driver corresponding to your model.

– Install the downloaded driver, following the on-screen instructions, and restart your computer once the process is complete.
Always keep an eye out for driver updates to maintain optimal game performance. It is also advisable to install other system updates regularly.

3. Clear Cache and Delete Unnecessary Files:

Over time, The Sims 4 accumulates temporary files and caches that can affect the game’s speed. Clearing these regularly will free up space and improve performance:

– Close The Sims 4, if it’s running.

– Open ‘The Sims 4’ folder located in ‘Documents > Electronic Arts.’

– Delete the ‘localthumbscache.package’ file.

– Go to the ‘cachestr’ folder and delete all files inside.

Furthermore, disable additional mods or custom content that you no longer use or require, as they might create conflicting scripts or overload your computer’s memory.

Conclusion:

No one wants to deal with a slow and lagging game when trying to enjoy The Sims 4. These three easy ways—lowering game settings, updating drivers, and clearing cache—can significantly improve your gameplay experience. Give them a try, and let your creativity run wild in a seamless virtual environment!
