2022 Ram 1500 GT models offer TRX-lite performance features for way less money

The 2022 Ram 1500 GT models have created a buzz in the automotive world by offering performance features reminiscent of the much-lauded Ram TRX at a significantly lower price point. The introduction of the GT package is seen as a strategic move by Ram to provide their customer base with an option that brings high-performance capabilities to a more affordable segment.

The GT models are available for both the Laramie and Rebel trims of the 2022 Ram 1500 and feature a host of upgrades that are inspired by the powerful TRX model, minus the extreme off-roading orientation and the TRX’s supercharged V8 engine. Instead, these GT versions come with the brand’s tried-and-true 5.7L Hemi V8, coupled with a mild-hybrid system known as eTorque to add some efficiency to its robust power delivery.

Key highlights of GT package include performance-oriented modifications like a sport performance hood, cold air intake channeled from the same as used in the TRX, and a performance-tuned exhaust system that promises to deliver a more aggressive sound note that enthusiasts crave. Furthermore, the interior hasn’t been overlooked, with bucket seats upfront, a flat-bottom steering wheel equipped with paddle shifters—a first for non-TRX Ram trucks—and metal pedal kit to enhance the sporty driving experience.

The performance benefits are not just cosmetic or auditory; these features also contribute to improved airflow and response which means better overall driving dynamics. Pricing for this package is quite competitive, making it an appealing proposition for those who yearn for enhanced performance without breaking the bank. This move by Ram cleverly fills in a niche that offers everyday truck users a taste of high-performance truck life merged seamlessly with practicality and affordability.

Overall, while it doesn’t have all of the extreme features of its pricier sibling, the TRX, the GT package delivers an enticing balance of performance and price for enthusiasts looking to make their daily drive more exciting. The 2022 Ram 1500 GT models stand out as an example of how performance features can be democratized to reach a wider audience while still providing an exhilarating driving experience.
