2 Ways to Create a Windows 11 Bootable USB Drive

Creating a bootable USB drive is an essential task for anyone who regularly works with computers. A bootable USB drive allows you to install or repair an operating system on a computer without using a CD or DVD. In this article, we will look at two ways to create a Windows 11 bootable USB drive.

Method 1: Using the Media Creation Tool

The Media Creation Tool is a free utility provided by Microsoft that allows you to download and create installation media for Windows 11. Here’s how to use it to create a bootable USB drive:

1. Download the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.

2. Run the Media Creation Tool and select “Create installation media for another PC.”

3. Choose your language, edition, and architecture of Windows 11.

4. Select “USB flash drive” as your media type and choose the USB drive you want to use.

5. Click “Next” and wait for the Media Creation Tool to download the Windows 11 files and create the bootable USB drive.

Method 2: Using Rufus

Rufus is a free, open-source tool that allows you to create bootable USB drives from ISO images. Here’s how to use Rufus to create a Windows 11 bootable USB drive:

1. Download Rufus from the official website and install it on your computer.

2. Insert your USB drive into your computer.

3. Run Rufus and select your USB drive from the “Device” dropdown menu.

4. Under “Boot selection,” click the “Select” button and choose the Windows 11 ISO file you downloaded.

5. Under “Partition scheme,” select “MBR” if your computer uses BIOS, or “GPT” if it uses UEFI.

6. Under “File system,” select “NTFS.”

7. Click “Start” and wait for Rufus to create the bootable USB drive.

In conclusion, creating a Windows 11 bootable USB drive is a simple task that can be done using either the Media Creation Tool or Rufus. By following the steps outlined in this article, you should be able to create a bootable USB drive that can be used to install or repair Windows 11 on your computer.
