Are you looking for fun and engaging math activities that will get your kids up and moving? Look no further! We have compiled a list of 15 exciting games and activities that combine math with physical movement. These activities are perfect for kids who love to be active and learn at the same time.

1. Math Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt where kids have to solve math problems to find the next clue. This will get them moving while practicing their math skills.

2. Number Jump: Lay out a number line on the floor and call out math problems. Kids have to jump to the correct answer. You can make it more challenging by adding multi-digit numbers or fractions.

3. Math Relay Races: Divide kids into teams and set up various math stations. Each station has a math problem that needs to be solved before moving on to the next one. The first team to complete all the stations wins!

4. Shape Hopscotch: Draw different shapes on the ground and assign each shape a number. Kids have to hop from one shape to another while solving math problems associated with each shape.

5. Math Dance Party: Play some upbeat music and assign a math operation to each dance move. Kids have to solve math problems in their heads and perform the corresponding dance moves.

6. Counting Calisthenics: Combine counting with calisthenics exercises. For example, do ten jumping jacks, then solve a math problem, then do ten sit-ups, and so on.

7. Math Freeze Tag: When a child gets tagged, they have to freeze and correctly answer a math problem to be unfrozen. This game combines math skills with physical activity.

8. Target Toss: Set up targets with different numbers. Kids have to throw bean bags and try to hit the targets with the highest sum or product.

9. Math Obstacle Course: Create an obstacle course with math problems at each station. Kids have to solve the problems to move on to the next obstacle. This activity combines physical exercise with math skills.

10. Fraction Fitness: Assign different exercises to different fractions. For example, jumping jacks for 1/2, push-ups for 1/4, and so on. Kids have to solve fraction problems and perform the corresponding exercise.

11. Math Simon Says: Play a game of Simon Says, but instead of following physical movements, kids have to solve math problems. For example, “Simon says, solve 8 + 3.”

12. Math Basketball: Set up a mini basketball hoop and assign points to different math problems. Kids have to solve the problems and shoot the basketball to earn points.

13. Clock Hop: Draw a giant clock on the ground and call out different times. Kids have to hop to the correct hour or minute while solving math problems.

14. Number Line Tag: Set up a number line on the ground and play a game of tag. Kids have to step on different numbers while avoiding being tagged.

15. Math Relay Race: Similar to regular relay races, but with math problems. Kids have to solve a math problem before passing the baton to the next runner.

These are just some ideas to get you started. You can modify and adapt these activities to fit the specific math skills your kids are working on. Remember, the goal is to make learning math fun and active. So get moving and have fun with these active math games and activities!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
