Introduction:

AirPods have become an integral part of our daily lives, allowing us to stay connected and enjoy our favorite tunes on-the-go. However, there are times when the AirPods’ microphone may not work as expected. In this article, we will explore 10 ways to fix potential issues with your AirPods microphone.

1. Check the microphone settings on your device:

Before digging further into potential problems with your AirPods, ensure that the microphone settings on your device are enabled. On an iPhone, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth > tap ‘i’ icon next to AirPods > Microphone.

2. Reset your AirPods:

A quick reset might resolve the issue you’re experiencing. Place both AirPods in the charging case and keep the lid open. Press and hold the setup button located at the back of the case until the LED light starts flashing amber, then white. Now reconnect your AirPods to your device.

3. Clean the microphone:

Dirt and debris can accumulate in the microphones, muffling your sound input. Clean the microphone gently using a soft-bristled brush or compressed air to remove any obstructions.

4. Update your device’s software:

In some cases, a software update may resolve microphone issues. Keep both your smartphone operating system and AirPods firmware up-to-date by checking for updates regularly.

5. Disable noise suppression:

Noise suppression features may sometimes interfere with the microphone’s performance. To disable this feature on iPhone, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Phone Noise Cancellation feature switch it off.

6. Try adjusting volume levels:

It is possible that you or someone else accidentally lowered the volume of the input settings for your microphone check if you need to increase it during calls or recordings.

7. Test with a different device:

Pairing your AirPods with a different device helps pinpoint whether the problem exists within your AirPods or the original device. If the microphone works fine on another device, you may need to troubleshoot further on the source device.

8. Check for any physical damage:

Inspect your AirPods for any visible signs of physical damage, as this might be the cause of the issue. In case of substantial damage, you might need to contact Apple Support for repair or replacement options.

9. Disconnect other Bluetooth devices:

If you have multiple Bluetooth devices connected to your phone simultaneously, try disconnecting all unnecessary Bluetooth connections and see if this rectifies the issue.

10. Seek assistance from Apple Support:

If nothing seems to work, get in touch with Apple Support for further guidance and a thorough diagnosis on your AirPods’ microphone-related issue.

Conclusion:

Issues related to AirPods microphones can be frustrating but are often easily fixable. By following the steps mentioned above, you will likely resolve most common issues. However, if none of these tips help, don’t hesitate to reach out to Apple Support to get your AirPods back in working order.
