Star Wars is not just a series of movies; it’s an expansive universe that extends to various forms of media, including the enthralling world of comics. While many Star Wars comics offer hopeful stories and triumphant victories for the heroes, others delve into the darker side of the galaxy far, far away, offering readers grim narratives with unexpectedly bleak resolutions. Here’s a look at the 10 best Star Wars comics known for their dark endings.

.Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith – The Chosen One: This series follows Darth Vader immediately after the events of “Revenge of the Sith,” showcasing his transformation into the Sith Lord we know. The dark ending highlights his severance from any remnants of Anakin Skywalker and burgeoning into Emperor Palpatine’s ruthless apprentice.

.Star Wars:Dark Empire: The resurrection of Emperor Palpatine in clone bodies and Luke Skywalker’s brief turn to the dark side make this series a notably grim chapter in the Star Wars saga. The end of this series accentuates a galaxy struggling against impending darkness despite momentary victories.

.Star Wars: Republic – Order 66: This storyline covers the execution of Order 66 from different perspectives. These tales conclude with devastating finishes as readers witness various Jedi meet their tragic fates, underscoring the efficiency and brutality of the Empire’s rise.

.Darth Vader (2015) – End of Games: The conclusion to Kieron Gillen’s Darth Vader series brings closure to many storylines but does so with ruthless efficiency, reflecting on how far Vader will go to cement his position and quell any opposition.

.Legacy Volume 2 – War: This series set far into the Star Wars timeline ends on a dark note with Cade Skywalker succumbing to his legacy in bleak ways that question whether redemption is possible for a Skywalker stained by darkness.

.Knights of The Old Republic– War: As peace seems within reach, this comic ends tragically when unexpected betrayal leads to further conflict instead, leaving its characters in worse situations than before.

.Jedi Fallen Order—Dark Temple: Preceding the events of the “Jedi: Fallen Order” video game, this mini-series ends with an ominous view towards the future, showing just how relentless and pervasive the Empire’s iron grip is across the galaxy.

.Star Wars: Purge: Following survivors of Order 66 as they attempt to evade Darth Vader and his Inquisitors, these stories meet their crushing ends with few Jedi left standing, effectively demonstrating their dwindling hope and numbers.

.Darth Maul – Son OfDathomir: Revealing Darth Maul’s fate post “The Clone Wars” season five, this comic concludes with Maul enduring loss and returning to shadows, suggesting a cycle of vengeance that might never end.

.Lando – Double or Nothing: Lando’s adventures are not without consequences; here he realizes that some gambles have higher stakes than others do. Despite moments of charm and wit throughout, its conclusion leaves readers pondering on moral ambiguity and costs tied to decisions made.

These comics show us that not all stories in the Star Wars universe finish on an optimistic note – some embrace the darker ramifications embedded within a galaxy plagued by war and ambition.
