Illithids, commonly known as mind flayers, are a race feared throughout the Dungeons & Dragons universe for their psychic abilities and penchant for consuming brains. In the game Baldur’s Gate 3, players can encounter these formidable beings and witness their powers firsthand. Here are the 10 best Illithid powers to look out for and possibly use in your adventures within the game.

.Mind Blast – An area of effect ability that stuns enemies caught in its radius, giving you a tactical advantage.

.Dominate Monster – This power allows you to take control of an enemy creature and turn it into an ally for a short period, adding another combatant to your side.

.Extract Brain – A gruesome but effective way of dealing with enemies; it’s a lethal attack that instantly kills a target if it succeeds.

.Psionic Shield – Provides a protective barrier around the Illithid that reduces incoming damage, ensuring they remain in the fight longer.

.Levitate – Grants the ability to lift themselves or an object off the ground, providing a strategic edge by reaching high places or avoiding ground-based hazards.

.Telepathy – This passive ability allows Illithids to communicate with any creature, which can be useful for gathering information or negotiating without language barriers.

.Psychic Crush – A powerful single-target attack that deals heavy psychic damage and can potentially incapacitate an enemy with overwhelming force.

.Mass Manipulation – A more advanced version of Dominate Monster that can affect several creatures at once, potentially turning the tide in a dire situation.

.Plane Shift – Though rare, some powerful Illithids can shift themselves and others to different planes of existence—an excellent escape mechanism or tool to travel vast distances instantly.

.Create Thrall – After weakening a target, an Illithid might permanently enslave them, making them loyal servants that follow every command without question.

These abilities make the Illithids one of the most feared races in Baldur’s Gate 3. Whether players find themselves facing these creatures as adversaries or harnessing some of their powers through game mechanics or story events, respecting the might of Illithid powers is crucial for survival and success within the game’s rich and perilous world.
