Your Phone Is 10 Times Dirtier Than a Toilet Seat. Clean It Now

Did you know that your beloved smartphone could be carrying more germs than a public toilet seat? Shocking, right? Recent studies have shown that cell phones can carry up to ten times more bacteria than an average toilet seat and can potentially cause various health concerns. This article will discuss the reasons behind your phone’s hidden filth, its potential impact on your health, and suggest actionable tips for properly sanitizing your device.

Why Is Your Phone So Dirty?

Our smartphones have become an inseparable part of our lives. From texting our friends to paying bills, we use them constantly throughout the day. As a result, the surfaces of these devices become a breeding ground for germs, including some harmful ones like E.coli and Salmonella.

Factors contributing to the accumulation of germs on our phones include:

1. Constant touching

We touch our phones hundreds of times a day resulting in germ transfer from fingertips to screens.

2. Surface contamination

Placing your phone on different surfaces expose them to various dirt and bacteria.

3. Rarely cleaned

The reality is that most people don’t clean their devices at all or very infrequently.

Health Risks

Many of the germs found on phones are harmless; however, some may pose health risks such as increased risk of infections and illness if not addressed. Common problems associated with dirty phones could be rashes, skin irritations, digestive issues, or even acne breakouts.

How To Clean Your Phone the Right Way

To keep your phone’s hygiene in check, follow these essential tips:

1. Unplug

Before beginning the cleaning process, unplug your device from any external power source.

2. Use microfiber cloth

Avoid using paper towels or other abrasive materials as they might scratch your phone’s surface. Opt for a soft microfiber cloth instead.

3. Use rubbing alcohol

Mix 1:1 water and 70% isopropyl alcohol, lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with the solution, and gently wipe your phone without letting liquid seep into any openings.

4. Clean phone accessories

Don’t forget to clean your smartphone case and screen protector.

5. Practice good hand hygiene

Wash or sanitize your hands regularly to minimize the transmission of germs to your device.

Conclusion

In a time when smartphones are practically an extension of ourselves, it’s crucial that we prioritize our devices’ cleanliness. By following the tips outlined above, you’ll be taking vital steps towards maintaining both your physical health and the longevity of your device. So, give your phone a thorough cleaning today!
