Yes, You Can Make Money From That Car Sitting in Your Garage. Here’s How

If you have a car sitting idle in your garage, you might feel that it is nothing more than an expensive paperweight. In fact, that underused vehicle has the potential to generate income for you, turning it into a valuable asset. Here are five ways you can make money from that car gathering dust in your garage.

1. Rent it out on a car-sharing platform

Many people need access to a car temporarily but don’t want to go through the hassle and expense of renting one from a traditional agency. Car-sharing platforms like Turo and Getaround allow private car owners to rent their vehicles out to others on an hourly or daily basis. Signing up is typically easy, and you have control over your car’s availability and pricing.

2. Offer it as an airport parking alternative

Frequent travelers often need long-term parking for their cars while they’re away from home. You can turn this demand into an opportunity by offering your car as a more affordable and convenient alternative to traditional airport parking lots. Renting out your vehicle on platforms like Spacer or JustPark can provide travelers with a secure place to park their cars and potentially save them money.

3. Use it for advertising

Many companies are willing to pay for mobile advertisement space – particularly if your vehicle is located or driven in highly visible areas. By wrapping your car in vinyl advertisements or magnets, you can generate passive income without any additional effort on your part. Companies like Wrapify and Carvertise connect car owners with advertisers looking for this type of marketing opportunity.

4. Become a rideshare driver

Ridesharing platforms like Uber and Lyft still dominate the gig economy, providing passengers with easy and affordable transportation options. If you enjoy driving and meeting new people, becoming a rideshare driver may be perfect for you. Plus, these platforms typically provide attractive bonuses for completing a set number of rides, helping you earn even more being on the road.

5. Deliver goods and groceries

If ridesharing isn’t your thing, perhaps delivering goods for others is more appealing. Local grocery delivery services like Instacart and Shipt allow you to shop and deliver groceries to customers, while jobs with package delivery companies like Amazon Flex involve picking up packages from warehouses and delivering them to homes and businesses.

In conclusion, don’t let that car in your garage become a dead weight on your finances. Explore these various opportunities to generate income and make the most of your idle vehicle. By taking initiative, you’ll feel in control of your financial destiny while putting that car to good use.
