Why Sith Have The Best Lightsabers For Dueling (& How Ahsoka Is Trained To Beat Them)

The Sith are often depicted as having the best lightsabers for dueling, and this reputation is not unfounded. Sith lightsabers are typically red due to the synthetic kyber crystals they use, which are known to be stronger and can be more easily manipulated than natural kyber crystals. Sith Lords are also known for customizing their lightsabers to suit their aggressive dueling styles, incorporating features like crossguards, curved hilts, and even dual-phase blades that can change length mid-combat.

Moreover, Sith training emphasizes offense and overwhelming power, which translates into dueling tactics that are ferocious and unpredictable. The Dark Side of the Force grants them abilities like using Force lightning or choking their opponents, tactics that can catch a Jedi off-guard during a duel. Their willingness to embrace rage and channel it into combat gives them an edge by increasing their strength and speed.

However, a remarkable opponent trained in the ways of the Force like Ahsoka Tano has skills to counter even the most formidable Sith warriors. Ahsoka is trained by Anakin Skywalker, who himself was an exceptional duelist with experience fighting Sith Lords. She adopts a unique form of lightsaber combat which combines elements from multiple styles, making her unpredictable in battle.

Ahsoka’s dual-wielding technique allows her to attack and defend simultaneously, creating openings in her opponent’s defenses while safeguarding herself from counter-attacks. Her agility and acrobatic skills let her evade the aggressive assaults typical of Sith Lords. Ahsoka also has an in-depth understanding of both light-side and dark-side fighting techniques, thanks to her nuanced view of the Force after leaving the Jedi Order.

Perhaps most importantly, Ahsoka embodies a balanced emotional state; she does not succumb to anger or fear in battle. This calmness provides clarity during duels against Sith who thrive in chaos, allowing her to anticipate and counter their moves effectively.

In conclusion, while Sith may have superior lightsaber technology and aggressive tactics designed for dueling, Ahsoka’s comprehensive training by Anakin Skywalker, her hybrid combat style, her agility and balanced emotional state make her well-equipped to face and potentially defeat them in combat.
