What Is The Best Type Of Kitchen Storage? Designers Explain The Best Way To Keep This Space Decluttered

Kitchens are often the heart of the home – a place not only for cooking but also for socializing, eating, and even working. Therefore, having an organized and decluttered kitchen is essential. According to design experts, the best type of kitchen storage depends on factors such as kitchen size, layout, personal preferences, and lifestyle. However, some universally acknowledged storage solutions help maintain an orderly space.

Firstly, designers emphasize the importance of maximizing vertical space. Tall cabinetry that extends to the ceiling can offer extra shelves for rarely used items like seasonal cookware or bulk supplies. This also has the advantage of drawing the eye upwards, potentially making a small kitchen feel larger.

Drawer organization is another key aspect. Deep drawers with dividers can efficiently store pots, pans, and even dishes. This approach prevents items from becoming stacked and difficult to access, a common issue with traditional cabinets.

Pull-out pantries or sliding shelves have gained popularity for their convenience and ease of access. These allow homeowners to view all items at once without having to reach into the back of deep cabinets.

Incorporating lazy Susans in corner cabinets can be beneficial for utilizing what might otherwise be dead space. Rotating shelves make it easy to access items that would normally be hard to reach.

Open shelving is a trend that continues to appeal to those who prefer a mix of functionality and aesthetics. Open shelves keep everyday items at arm’s reach while also enabling homeowners to showcase attractive dishware as part of their kitchen’s decor.

For smaller kitchens or those seeking a minimalist look, magnetic wall strips or pegboards can be an innovative solution. They offer a way to hang utensils, pots, and pans on unused wall spaces.

Lastly, custom storage solutions tailored to specific needs can optimize kitchen workflow. Designers recommend custom inserts like spice pull-outs, built-in cutlery trays, or appliance garages for small appliances.

Overall, designers suggest choosing storage options that cater not only to functionality but also personal style preferences—because the best kitchen storage is one that you will use consistently and with satisfaction.
