What is a Wide Extended Graphics Array (WXGA)?

A Wide Extended Graphics Array or WXGA is a display resolution that is commonly used in modern digital devices. It is specifically designed to provide high-quality visual display on widescreen monitors, laptops, and projectors.

The resolution of a WXGA display is 1280×800 pixels, which is an aspect ratio of 16:10. This is wider than the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio of computer displays since it caters to the viewing habits of modern users who enjoy watching movies, gaming, or streaming content online. WXGA provides better detailing and clarity to images, videos, and games by providing more pixels on the screen.

The resolution of WXGA is a significant improvement over previous display resolutions such as VGA (640×480) and SVGA (800×600). It is also a stepping stone for higher-resolution display standards such as Full HD (1920×1080) and 4K UHD (3840×2160) that are becoming more and more popular nowadays.

WXGA is widely adopted in laptops, netbooks, and small form factor desktops. The resolution is small enough to provide a sharp display on a small screen, but also large enough to provide an immersive viewing experience. This makes it a perfect fit for users who enjoy multimedia content or work on multiple windows simultaneously.

WXGA display resolution is also used in projectors. It has become a popular choice in the education sector, as it provides enough detail and color accuracy to presentations and videos, making them more engaging to the audience. WXGA also supports High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), which makes it possible to connect the projector to High Definition sources such as Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and streaming devices.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
