SMTP settings are necessary when setting up an email account as it allows outgoing emails to be sentusing a specific server. SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, and it is used for transferring emails from one server to another. Each email service provider has its own unique SMTP settings, and Yahoo Mail is no exception.

Yahoo Mail SMTP Settings

Yahoo Mail offers two different SMTP servers to choose from, depending on the type of account you have. The first option is the standard SMTP server, which requires authentication before sending emails. The second option is the SSL-enabled SMTP server, which is a more secure option.

Here are the SMTP settings for Yahoo Mail:

Standard SMTP Server:

– SMTP server address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
– SMTP username: your Yahoo Mail username
– SMTP password: your Yahoo Mail password
– SMTP port: 587
– SMTP TLS/SSL required: Yes

SSL-Enabled SMTP Server:

– SMTP server address: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
– SMTP username: your Yahoo Mail username
– SMTP password: your Yahoo Mail password
– SMTP port: 465
– SMTP TLS/SSL required: Yes

Note: If you are using an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail, you will need to configure the client to use the appropriate SMTP server based on the above settings.

How to Set Up Yahoo Mail SMTP Settings

To set up Yahoo Mail SMTP settings, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account.
2. Go to the account security settings page.
3. Turn on the “Allow apps that use less secure sign-in” toggle switch. This is necessary for email clients that do not support the more secure OAuth2 authentication.
4. Configure your email client with the appropriate SMTP settings based on the above details.

Conclusion

SMTP settings are an essential component of an email account. In this article, we outlined the SMTP settings for Yahoo Mail and explained how to set them up. With these settings in place, you can easily send outgoing emails using Yahoo Mail through your preferred email client. Remember to keep your login details secure and use the SSL-enabled server to maximize your email security.
