The unanimous winner among the chefs was Annie’s Deluxe Rich & Creamy Shells & Real Aged Cheddar. Each chef praised the product for its superior quality ingredients, and notably the use of real aged cheddar cheese, which yields a more authentic and satisfying flavor.

Chef Alex G., owner of a farm-to-table restaurant in Oregon, shared that Annie’s Deluxe has a “comforting, homemade taste without artificial flavors.” His experience with the brand extends beyond his professional kitchen as he often recommends it for families looking to balance convenience with the desire for organic ingredients.

Chef Maria L., known for her innovative comfort food in downtown Chicago, spoke highly of the pasta’s texture, “The shells are perfectly designed to hold onto the creamy sauce. It’s a texture thing—they don’t become soggy like some other brands.” For her, texture is as crucial as taste, and Anne’s Deluxe hits both marks.

Lastly, Chef Leon D., a French-trained chef turned food critic, appreciated the balance of flavors. “It’s not overwhelmingly cheesy but has a sophisticated flavor profile that pleases both children and adults. And you can actually taste the sharpness of the aged cheddar,” he said.

For a boxed mac and cheese that sits well with expert taste buds while offering convenience, all three chefs were in agreement that Annie’s Deluxe is their top pantry pick.
