Have you ever been in the middle of downloading important files or documents on Chrome only to encounter the frustrating “Download Failed Network Error?” This error message pops up when Chrome cannot complete a download due to an interrupted network connection. It can be caused by various factors such as a weak internet connection, outdated browser, or antivirus software blocking the download.

Thankfully, there are easy ways to fix this issue and resume downloading your files. Below are some solutions to help you fix the “Download Failed Network Error” on Chrome.

1. Pause and Resume the Download

One of the quickest ways to solve the “Download Failed Network Error” is to pause and resume the download. Simply click on the download link, when the error message appears, pause the download and then resume it. This should allow Chrome to reconnect to the network and continue the download.

2. Check Your Internet Connection

A weak, unstable, or interrupted internet connection can cause the “Download Failed Network Error” on Chrome. To fix this issue, ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection and reset your router or modem if necessary. Also, try to download the file during off-peak hours when there is less network traffic.

3. Disable Antivirus or Firewall Software

Antivirus or firewall software can block downloads, resulting in the “Download Failed Network Error” on Chrome. To fix this issue, temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall software and try to download the file again. If the download is successful, then your antivirus or firewall software is the problem. Consider adding the download link to the software’s approved list to avoid blocking future downloads.

4. Clear the Cache and Cookies

Cache and cookies are temporary files that Chrome stores to improve browsing speed. However, they can also affect the download process and cause the “Download Failed Network Error” on Chrome. To fix this issue, clear the cache and cookies by going to “Settings” > “Privacy and Security” > “Clear Browsing Data.” Select the time range and check the boxes next to “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.” Click on “Clear data” and then try downloading the file again.

5. Update Chrome

An outdated version of Chrome can lead to the “Download Failed Network Error.” To fix this issue, ensure that you have the latest version of Chrome installed on your device. Go to “Settings” > “About Chrome” and check for any available updates. If an update is available, click on “Update” to install the latest version.
