The Tacoma-Based Windansea Brings Retro Looks to Toyota’s Truck

The automotive industry is known for its constant innovations, advancements in technology, and evolving designs. However, there is something particularly fascinating about retro-styled vehicles that manage to capture the hearts of car enthusiasts. One such recent introduction is the Windansea – a Tacoma-based project that magically infuses a nostalgic look into Toyota’s truck.

Derived from the legendary Toyota Hilux trucks of the 1970s and 1980s, this revamped Tacoma boasts distinct classic features while staying true to its contemporary roots. Created by MULE Expedition Outfitters, the Windansea project showcases an impressive blend of old-school charm with modern off-road prowess.

Upon first glance, the most striking aspect of the Windansea Tacoma is its retro paint job. This unique design, fondly known as “the tricolor stripe,” has been borrowed straight from the legendary Toyota racer Ivan “Ironman” Stewart’s off-road vehicle. The signature red-orange-yellow color combination exudes a timeless vibe and instantly transports enthusiasts back to the golden era of off-roading.

Underneath the nostalgic exterior, Windansea is a modern-day beast ready for adventure. The truck sits on custom matte black fifteen52 wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, which can confidently tackle any terrain. A high-clearance front bumper from CBI Offroad with an integrated winch ensures that the Windansea Tacoma remains unstoppable in the roughest of conditions.

With functionality in mind, MULE Expedition Outfitters has equipped this retro-styled Tacoma with several practical features. An Alu-Cab pop-up tent sits atop a BoxRocket Bed Rack system providing sleeping quarters for two. The setup features multiple storage compartments and unique lighting elements ensuring that campers have everything they need within reach.

The interior also stays true to its roots while incorporating some modern necessities. Vintage-inspired gauges with an old-school touch give off a unique charm, whilst the contemporary infotainment system keeps the driver connected and informed. Comfort meets style with a custom vintage-look upholstery that pays homage to the trucks of yesteryears.

In essence, the Windansea project has demonstrated that it’s possible to tastefully merge retro design elements with a modern off-road truck without sacrificing performance or reliability. This Tacoma-based beauty is sure to turn heads on both city streets and off-road trails, charming onlookers with its nostalgic allure and making enthusiasts yearn for a time when simplicity ruled the automotive world. Undoubtedly, the Windansea Tacoma proves that for some truck enthusiasts, embracing their past can take them to an exciting future.
