In the world of smart speakers, Google Home and Nest Mini have made a significant impact on our daily lives. From playing our favorite tunes to answering complex questions with a simple voice command, they’ve certainly become indispensable household gadgets. As their popularity grows, many users have sought to incorporate these devices into their homes in unique and creative ways. One such option is wall-mounting, but not all methods are ideal for this purpose. In this article, we’ll discuss a popular wall-mounting technique that is not the best choice and why alternatives are more suitable.

The Not-So-Great Method: Using Command Strips

A commonly employed method for mounting smart speakers is using adhesive command strips. Although they seem convenient and hassle-free, this method has its drawbacks.

1. Risk of Damage: Command strips might not provide adequate support for your Google Home or Nest Mini devices over time. The weight of the devices can cause the strips to lose adhesion, leading to potential damage from falling.

2. Limited Placement Options: Relying on adhesive strips restricts the locations where you can mount your device. Walls with uneven surfaces or textures may make it challenging for the strips to adhere properly.

3. Aesthetic Issues: Command strips may show beneath the device or leave a visible residue on your walls when removed. This can be unsightly and detract from your home’s decor.

4. Inability to Adjust: Once the device is mounted using command strips, it is inconvenient or near-impossible to make adjustments if you determine it’s not in an ideal location.

The Better Alternative: Dedicated Wall Mounts

Instead of risking damage and less-than-ideal aesthetics, consider using dedicated wall mounts designed specifically for Google Home or Nest Mini devices.

1. Enhanced Security: Wall mounts ensure that your device is securely fastened to the surface, minimizing the risk of damage associated with falling.

2. Versatility: Dedicated wall mounts offer more placement options, including areas with uneven surfaces, enabling you to find the perfect spot for optimal functionality.
3. Easy Adjustments: With adjustable wall mounts, you can effortlessly change your device’s position for maximum performance without the difficulty of removing and reapplying adhesive strips.

4. Improved Aesthetic Appeal: Using a dedicated wall mount eliminates visible adhesive marks or residue, keeping your space looking clean and uncluttered.

To optimize your Google Home or Nest Mini experience, avoid using command strips for wall-mounting. Investing in a dedicated wall mount delivers a more secure, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing solution that will help you make the most of these impressive smart devices.
