The Best Way To Pack Earrings When Travelling So You Don’t Lose Them

Spread the love

Traveling can be an exciting experience, but it often comes with the challenge of packing efficiently, especially when it comes to small and delicate items like earrings. Losing an earring can be frustrating, primarily if it holds sentimental value or is part of a cherished pair. To ensure that your earrings travel just as safely as you do, here’s a guide on the best way to pack them.

Choose the Right Container

The first step in packing earrings is selecting an appropriate container. A hardshell case with individual compartments or foam inserts can protect your earrings from being crushed. Containers designed for pills or daily contacts are superb alternatives as they are compact and have separate sections.

Go DIY with Buttons and Straws

A simple and innovative way to secure your stud earrings is to fasten them through the holes of buttons, ensuring that pairs stay together. For dangly earrings, thread the hook through a straw and clasp it. This prevents tangles and makes sure you don’t lose one piece of a pair.

Use Jewelry Rolls or Organizers

Jewelry rolls with distinct pockets or soft-lined jewelry organizers are perfect for keeping all your jewelry, not just earrings, safe and in one place. They roll up neatly into your luggage and prevent items from moving around too much.

Keep It With You

Consider wearing your most valuable earrings while traveling or keeping them in your carry-on luggage so that you can keep an eye on them during transit. This reduces the risk of loss due to theft or misplacement.

Recycle Business Cards

An unconventional method includes using old business cards or card stock by poking pairs through them. This keeps earrings secured and organized, making it easy to find the pair you want without sifting through other jewelry.

Layer with Cotton

If you’re using a box without compartments, lay a cotton ball or pad at the bottom before placing your earrings on top and then cover them with another layer of cotton. This buffering protects against shock and pressure during transit.

Remember to always close the hooks or backs of your earrings before storing them, to prevent snagging on fabric or other items. By implementing these strategies, you’ll ensure that your beloved earrings remain just where they should be — with you, ready to accessorize any travel outfit.
