As winter rolls around, ski enthusiasts begin to scout for the best slopes. For the 2024 season, several ski resorts across the United States have announced expansive new developments that promise to elevate the skiing experience. Whether you’re searching for longer runs, better snow, or more luxurious accommodations, these destinations have invested heavily to offer something special.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming

The powder paradise of Jackson Hole has long been a favorite for expert skiers with its steep terrain and deep snow. In 2024, the resort will debut its “Apex Expansion,” which includes two new chairlifts that open up an additional 500 acres of skiable terrain. With these additions, Jackson Hole is making some of its previously hard-to-reach backcountry accessible to a broader range of skiers and snowboarders.

Vail Mountain, Colorado

Already among the largest ski resorts in North America, Vail is pushing the boundaries further with “The Golden Peak Project.” This entails an expanded training area for competitive athletes and a new high-speed quad lift that increases access to advanced and expert terrain. The project also boosts Vail’s appeal to families and those seeking refined luxury with upgraded lodges and increased fine-dining options.

Park City Mountain Resort, Utah

The largest ski area in the US became even larger with its “Silver Summit Expansion.” Park City’s addition features two new lifts and upgrades to existing ones to improve circulation around the mountain. It also brings eight new trails designed for intermediate skiers and snowboarders who are looking to up their game.

Aspen Snowmass, Colorado

Now boasting “The Pandora’s Playground,” Aspen Snowmass’ expansion adds over 150 acres of mixed-use terrain focused on sustainability and natural experiences. Skiers can enjoy new glades, cruisers, and powder pockets that respect the natural topography while enhancing discoverability of remote areas with improved lift systems.

Big Sky Resort, Montana

“Montana’s Biggest Skiing” lives up to its reputation with its “Andesite Mountain Upgrade.” Big Sky introduces three new lifts that give access to nearly 1,000 new acres of varied terrain, offering everything from groomed runs for beginners to challenging chutes for adrenaline seekers. The expansion also emphasizes dining and après-ski experiences with several new mountain restaurants boasting breathtaking views.

These expansions are more than just additional acreage; they represent a commitment by US ski resorts to innovate while improving safety, guest services, and environmental sustainability. As resort boundaries grow, so do opportunities for memorable winter holidays tailored for all levels of skiers and making them well worth a visit in Winter 2024.
