The Best Rosés and White Wines to Order Online This Fall

As summer transitions into fall, wine enthusiasts are often looking for a change in their wine repertoire to match the cooling weather and the seasonal dishes that come with it. While red wines might seem like the natural choice for fall, there’s no need to put away the rosés and white wines just yet. Many of these wines transition beautifully into the crisper days, especially when you select ones with a bit more body and complexity that can stand up to heartier autumn meals.

One excellent choice for fall is a robust rosé such as those from Bandol, in Provence. These rosés are not your typical light summer fare; instead, they are rich and structured, often made primarily from Mourvèdre grapes. With hints of berry fruits and a bit of spiciness, they pair wonderfully with dishes like roasted root vegetables or pumpkin-based recipes.

For white wines, consider a full-bodied Chardonnay from regions that give the grape more oomph such as Burgundy or California. The creamy texture and notes of vanilla and baked apples complement fall flavors beautifully. They’re particularly good with creamy soups or buttery squash dishes.

Another great selection is Viognier. This aromatic white with its notes of stone fruit, such as apricots and peaches, brings warmth to any evening. Viogniers from the Rhône valley are typically excellent choices. Their lush profiles work well with spiced dishes like curries or spiced roasted chicken.

For something truly unique, search for an aged Riesling. Often overlooked after summer, an older Riesling develops rich honey and petrol notes that can provide an interesting contrast to savory fall vegetables like beets or brussels sprouts.

Lastly, don’t forget about sparkling wines! A crisp Blanc de Blancs will cut through richer foods or act as a refreshing palate cleanser between bites at any fall festivity.

To conveniently get your hands on these autumnal treasures, here are some exceptional online retailers where you can order these types of rosés and white wines:

1. Wine.com – Offers an extensive collection of wines from around the world.

2. Vivino – Utilize user ratings to help you pick the perfect bottle.

3. Drizly – If you need your wine in a hurry, they offer local delivery in under an hour.

4. Vinfolio – Focuses on high-end wines for the collector or those looking for something truly special.

5. SommSelect – Curated selections by sommeliers delivered straight to your door.

Remember, while exploring these options online can be convenient and offers access to a wide variety of wines, it’s also essential to check your local wine shop for their recommendations and perhaps some hidden gems they might have in stock.

Whether you are hosting a fall dinner party or enjoying a quiet evening by the fire, there is a plethora of rosé and white wine options available at your fingertips that can enhance your autumn experience without having to switch exclusively to reds.
