Charles M. Schulz’s beloved Peanuts comic strip has not only given us memorable characters like Charlie Brown and his quirky dog, Snoopy, but it also brought us some of the most cherished animated specials in television history. Here, we rank the best Peanuts specials that have captivated audiences over the years.

.A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) –Topping our list is the quintessential Peanuts holiday classic that has been warming hearts since its debut. With its timeless message about the true meaning of Christmas and Vince Guaraldi’s unforgettable jazz score, this special is a holiday staple.

.It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966) –Halloween wouldn’t be complete without this hauntingly sweet tale. The special features Linus’s unwavering belief in the Great Pumpkin, making it a story about faith and hope that resonates with both children and adults.

.A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973) –Combining humor and heart, this special teaches valuable lessons about gratitude and friendship as Charlie Brown attempts to host an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner for his friends.

.Charlie Brown’s All-Stars (1966) –This endearing special addresses themes of perseverance and teamwork as Charlie Brown tries to lead his eternally losing baseball team to victory while grappling with issues of fairness and acceptance.

.Snoopy Come Home (1972) –Centering around the beloved beagle Snoopy, this poignant special explores themes of belonging and identity as Snoopy embarks on a journey to visit his original owner, resulting in a touching exploration of loyalty and homecoming.

.You’re in Love, Charlie Brown (1967) –This special captures the sweet sting of young love as Charlie Brown tries to muster up the courage to talk to his crush, the Little Red-Haired Girl, showcasing Schulz’s ability to depict genuine emotion through his characters.

.Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (1975) –Exploring the joys and pitfalls of Valentine’s Day through the eyes of the Peanuts gang makes for an adorable yet introspective special that many can relate to no matter their age.

.What a Nightmare, Charlie Brown! (1978) –In this slightly darker turn for a Peanuts feature, Snoopy dreams that he’s an Iditarod sled dog which gives viewers an imaginative glimpse into Snoopy’s subconscious.

.He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown (1968) –This special offers insight into Snoopy’s mischievous side as well as themes on obedience and responsibility when Snoopy ends up at the “Peanut” farm for bad behavior training.

.Why, Charlie Brown, Why? (1990) –This later entry is noted for its sobering theme; it’s a sensitive portrayal of a young girl’s battle with cancer, showing how friends cope with one of life’s harshest realities through support and love.

These specials represent just a sample of the rich tapestry that Charles M. Schulz wove through his Peanuts creations. Each one holds its distinctive magic that has made them enduring pieces of animation history. While everyone might have a personal favorite not listed here, these rankings showcase those specials which left an indelible mark on popular culture and continue to bring joy to audiences around the globe.
