The Best (and Cheapest) Ways to Add a Little ‘Cottagecore’ Style to Your Home

Cottagecore is more than a trend; it’s a lifestyle that harkens back to a simpler, more bucolic time. With its romantic, countryside aesthetic, cottagecore has become increasingly popular for those wanting to transform their homes into a serene haven without breaking the bank. Here are some of the best and most affordable ways to introduce cottagecore style into your living space.

1.Thrifted Vintage Finds

Cottagecore revolves around vintage and rustic themes. Scour thrift stores, estate sales, and online marketplaces for antique treasures like lace tablecloths, brass candle holders, or floral china. These unique pieces add an authentic touch of nostalgia and charm without costing a fortune.

2.DIY Floral Arrangements

Nothing screams cottagecore like fresh flowers. Create your own floral arrangements using flowers from your garden or wildflowers picked from a field. Reuse old jars and bottles as vases for an added touch of rustic charm.

3.Homemade Quilts and Crochet Throws

Textiles play a huge role in this aesthetic. If you’re crafty, try your hand at making quilts or crocheting throws. Not only does this add personalized cozy accents to your home, but it also allows you to select colors and patterns that perfectly match your taste.

4.Upcycling Furniture

Upcycling is both eco-friendly and cost-effective. Give old furniture a second life with some sandpaper and paint. Distressed wooden furniture achieves that sought-after rustic vibe that’s central to the cottagecore aesthetic.

5.Grow Your Own Herb Garden

Cottagecore emphasizes a connection to nature, so why not start an herb garden? Whether on your windowsill or in a backyard plot, herbs are easy to grow and serve as both decor and ingredients for home-cooked meals.

6.Incorporate Handmade Pottery

Handmade pottery has an earthy feel that’s perfect for the cottagecore home. Look for local artists or affordable handmade pieces online to use for storage or as decorative elements.

7.Use Rattan and Wicker Baskets

Rattan and wicker give a natural, textured look while being functional for storage. They are often reasonably priced at thrift stores and can be used to hold plants or organize household items stylishly.

8.Embrace Soft Lighting

Soft lighting is key to the warm ambiance of cottagecore decor. Achieve this with candles, fairy lights, or soft white bulbs in lamps with quaint, vintage shades – all of which can be acquired inexpensively.

9.Arts & Crafts Decorations

Channel your inner artist with homemade crafts like paper garlands or pressed flower frames – simple projects that have big aesthetic impacts without costing much at all.

10.Display Second-hand Books

Old books aren’t just for reading; they also make great decorative pieces. Pile them up on tables or situate them in bookcases with their spines out for that classic lived-in library feel.

Embracing the cottagecore aesthetic doesn’t have to deplete your savings account; with a little creativity and thrifting savvy, you can transform your home into a timeless pastoral retreat on a budget.
