Practicing yoga before bed can be a gentle way to relax your body and calm your mind. Here are eight of the best yoga poses that are particularly effective for promoting a peaceful state that can lead to a restful sleep:

1. Balasana (Child’s Pose) – This pose helps to relax the mind and relieve tension in the body. Sit on your heels, fold forward, rest your forehead on the floor, and stretch your arms forward or by your sides.

2. Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-The-Wall Pose) – Known for its ability to relieve stress and ease mild back pain, this pose involves lying on your back and resting your legs vertically against a wall.

3. Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclining Bound Angle Pose) – This pose is excellent for relaxing the muscles in the lower half of the body. Lie flat on your back, bring the soles of your feet together, and let your knees fall open to each side.

4. Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend) – Stretching the back and promoting inner peace, this pose involves sitting with your legs extended in front of you and reaching forward toward your feet.

5. Ananda Balasana (Happy Baby Pose) – Ideal for soothing the mind and stretching the spine, lie on your back, grab the outside edges of your feet with both hands, and rock gently from side to side.

6. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend) – This forward bend helps to relieve stress in the neck and shoulders while calming the brain. Stand up straight, fold at the hips, and let your head hang down towards the ground.

7. Savasana (Corpse Pose) – Often used at the end of a yoga session for deep relaxation, you lie flat on your back with legs slightly apart and arms relaxed at your sides, while breathing deeply.

8. Marjaryasana-Bitilasana (Cat-Cow Stretch) – Perfect for relaxing spinal tension before bed, alternate between arching your back upwards while inhaling (Cat) and dipping it down while exhaling (Cow).

Incorporating these yoga poses into your nighttime routine can help you unwind after a busy day and prepare you for a night of deep sleep.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
