Introduction

Apple has once again pushed the boundaries of tablet technology with the release of the iPad Air (2025). Unveiled in early January, this latest iteration of the popular mid-range tablet brings significant improvements in performance, display technology, and versatility. As we delve into this review, we’ll explore how Apple has managed to blur the lines between the Air and Pro models, potentially making this the go-to choice for both casual users and professionals alike.

The Review

The first thing you’ll notice about the new iPad Air is its stunning 11-inch Liquid Retina XDR display. This mini-LED technology, previously reserved for the Pro models, offers incredible contrast ratios and peak brightness levels of up to 1600 nits. The result is a visual experience that’s nothing short of spectacular, whether you’re editing photos, watching HDR content, or simply browsing the web.

Under the hood, the iPad Air (2025) is powered by the M3 chip, a significant leap from its predecessor. This brings desktop-class performance to a device that weighs just over a pound. In our tests, the iPad Air handled everything from 4K video editing to complex 3D rendering with ease, often matching or even surpassing the performance of many laptops.

Apple has also made strides in the camera department. The rear camera now boasts a 16MP sensor with improved low-light performance, while the front-facing camera has been upgraded to a 12MP ultra-wide lens with Center Stage technology. This makes the iPad Air an excellent device for video calls and content creation.

One of the most significant improvements is in the realm of connectivity. The iPad Air (2025) now supports Wi-Fi 7, offering blazing-fast wireless speeds when connected to compatible routers. The USB-C port has also been upgraded to Thunderbolt 4, expanding the possibilities for external displays and high-speed data transfer.

Battery life remains impressive, with Apple claiming up to 10 hours of web surfing or video playback. In our real-world tests, we consistently achieved between 9 to 11 hours of mixed-use, which is excellent for a device of this caliber.

The new iPad Air is compatible with the second-generation Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard, further blurring the lines between tablet and laptop. With iPadOS 18, which comes preinstalled, the device offers enhanced multitasking capabilities and improved support for external displays.

Conclusion

The iPad Air (2025) represents a significant step forward for Apple’s mid-range tablet. With its Pro-level display, powerful M3 chip, and improved connectivity options, it offers an compelling package that will satisfy most users’ needs. While it comes at a premium price point starting at $649, the versatility and performance on offer make it a worthy investment for those looking for a device that can handle both work and play with equal aplomb. The iPad Air (2025) isn’t just a breath of fresh air; it’s a gust of wind that could reshape the tablet landscape.
