Play a Computer Game in Windowed Mode

Playing a computer game in windowed mode is a great way to multitask while you game. Why alt-tab out of a game to check your email or watch a video when you can simply minimize the game’s window and keep everything in view? Windowed mode also makes it easy to switch between applications you need to work in, like a browser or text editor.

To play a game in windowed mode, you first need to make sure it’s supported. Most modern games offer a windowed mode option in their settings, but some older or more niche titles may not.

To enable windowed mode, open the game’s settings menu and look for a display or graphics tab. Somewhere in the options, there should be a checkbox or drop-down menu for windowed mode. Check the box or select the option, then save and apply the new settings.

Once you’re back in the game, it should now appear in a smaller rectangular window instead of taking up the entire screen. You may need to adjust the window size and position to your liking, which you can do by dragging the edges or corners of the window.

One of the benefits of playing in windowed mode is that you can easily switch between applications without disrupting your game. To switch to another program, simply click on its window to bring it to the front. To switch back to your game, click on its window or use Alt + Tab to cycle through your open windows.

Another benefit is that you can more easily multitask while you game. Need to check your email or respond to a message? Simply move your mouse to the edge of the game’s window and click on another program. Your game will continue running in the background, so you can quickly check back in whenever you want.

Some players may find that playing in windowed mode lowers their game’s performance, as it requires your computer to process more tasks simultaneously. If you experience performance issues, try lowering your game’s graphical settings, closing any unnecessary programs, or switching to a lower-resolution window.

Overall, playing a computer game in windowed mode is a great option for players who want to multitask or easily switch between applications while they game. Just make sure your game supports windowed mode and adjust your settings to your liking. Happy gaming!
